The season is over and that means time for season accolades. Marco Reus has collected one of the most prestigious awards in the Bundesliga with the VDV player of the season award, voted on by all players in the league. Reus was the driving force behind BVB’s success this year and the rest of the league definitely took notice. Marco bagged 17 goals and 11 assists this year in the Bundesliga. Our Captain had one of the best years of his career.
Reus wasn’t the only player to be recognized by the player union. Jadon Sancho was named newcomer of the year and was named to the team of the season. Sancho had 12 goals and an insane 17 assist in the Bundesliga this year. The only other player to make the team of the year was Axel Wisel. Witsel being named the best CM in the league makes sense as he was probably BVB’s third best player behind Jadon and Marco. Witsel was the anchor that held the team together. For the rest of the Player Union Team of The Year, see below.
