BVB are still looking for a striker and might have a new target in Atalanta Bergamo’s Duvan Zapata. The 28-year-old had the best season of his career scoring 27 goals in 47 games across all competitions. Negotiations would likely be tough for Dortmund, Zapata is currently on loan at Atalanta from Sampdoria Genoa, however Atalanta has an option to buy him for 12€ million which they will definitely activate.
Borussia Dortmund’s fans should already be familiar with Mario Mandzukic who has been linked with BVB a few times over the past years. The 33-year-old from Juventus could leave the Italian club and might be an interesting option for the black and yellows, however it’s questionable if Dortmund would want to pay much, fee and wages, for a player that might only be a back-up for Paco Alcacer.
ESPN published an interesting article on Hannover 96’s American striker Sebastian Soto who played his first Bundesliga minutes this season. The report mentions that the centre forward has just one year left on his deal and that Borussia Dortmund are keeping an eye on the situation and might swoop in if the teenager can’t agree to a new deal with his current club.
- Relegation playoff
VfB Stuttgart led Union Berlin twice in the first leg of the relegation playoff but could not get the win in the end. Union will travel back to Berlin with a significant advantage having scored two away goals, a goalless draw or a 1:1 in the second leg would be enough to secure promotion.
