Is Donny van de Beek an option for Dortmund?

  • BVB players available for Düsseldorf

Borussia Dortmund will host Fortuna Düsseldorf tomorrow and will have to win if they want to keep a chance to win the title alive. They will have to do it without the suspended Reus and Wolf and the injured Hakimi. In addition it looks like Sancho is questionable for the game as Lucien Favre confirmed yesterday that the youngster did not train all week long. However it looks like Piszczek is an option to start at right back again.

  • Zorc scouting Donny van de Beek

These rumors surfaced a few weeks and have returned now after Michael Zorc was seen at the Champions League semifinal in Amsterdam. Bild, kicker and Ruhr Nachrichten all speculate that BVB’s sporting director was there to scout Donny van de Beek. Ajax’s central midfielder has impressed this season and could be the addition in midfield that the black and yellows need.

Bild goes a step further and claims BVB have been interested for weeks and have already met with van de Beek’s agents to talk about a possible deal.

Jean-Philippe Gbamin has stated his intention of leaving Mainz 05 and take the next step in his career. The 23-year-old defensive midfielder wants to move to a bigger club and mentions Borussia Dortmund as a possibility:

“The club is informed that I want to take the next step now and I hope to change. [...] Maybe Dortmund or Leverkusen - I like the clubs”

Gbamin is certainly a talented player but BVB does seem a bit to big for him at this point of his career. There’s also no indication that Dortmund would be interested in him.

  • Europa League

The international finals in both the Champions League and the Europa League will be Premier League duels. Eintracht Frankfurt was the last hope to avoid an all-English final but they were not able to advance to the final.

Frnakfurt came back from an early deficit to tie it back up in the second thanks to Luka Jovic. The game went to extra-time and eventually to a shootout that Chelseas won 4:3. Adi Hütter’s team represented the Bundesliga well and would’ve deserved to go to Baku for the final but they were just unlucky in the end.

Now Chelsea will meet Arsenal for a London derby in the final of the Europa League.
