- Any right backs left?
Borussia Dortmund has a problem at right back. All three players on their roster that could play the position are either definitely out (Hakimi) or questionable for the game (Piszczek and Wolf).
Lukasz Piszczek is back in training completing individual sessions but it seems unlikely that he’ll be ready for Saturday’s Revierderby. This leaves Marius Wolf as the only remaining hope for the crucial game against BVB’s bitter rivals. Wolf had to be subbed of during last weekend’s match versus SC Freiburg with an ankle injury.
Lucien Favre will hope that Wolf is ready for Saturday but if that’s not the case Manuel Akanji might have to play on the right side.
Die Genesung von Marius #Wolf zum #Revierderby am Samstag wird ein Wettlauf gegen die Zeit.

Dortmund’s opponent on Saturday have problems of their own, albeit not injury related like BVB. Nabil Bentaleb has been demoted to the U23 team for the second time this season. There is no official statement from the club just yet but it seems likely that Bentaleb will not be part of Schalke’s team on Saturday.
- DFB Cup
No surprises in the first semifinal of the DFB Cup, RB Leipzig won in Hamburg to reach their first ever Cup final. HSV put up a fight but in the end Leipzig was just too strong for the 2.Bundesliga side.
Today Werder Bremen will host Bayern Munich to see who will join RBL in the final. The Bavarians are obviously heavy favorites but the did have a hard time breaking through a well coached Bremen side just 4 days ago in the Bundesliga and were only able to get away with the win after Bremen went one man down. It would be quite the surprise if Bremen can get through to the final but in the Cup everything’s possible.
On a side not Douglas Santos was excellent versus Leipzig and has been one of the best players in the 2.Bundesliga. He definitely has the potential to play for a top 6 club in the Bundesliga and could maybe prove to be an option for BVB. Santos’ ability to play at left back and in central midfield, two positions of need for Dortmund, makes him an interesting player to watch for the upcoming transfer window.
