  • Bayern Munich vs Werder Bremen and BVB vs SC Freiburg

The title race continues with Bayern Munich hosting Werder Bremen. The Bavarians will obviously be favorites against the Northern Germans but Bremen is a tricky opponent, especially Max Kruse has been one of the best performing players in the Bundesliga in the past few weeks. With a bit of luck Bremen might steal a point at the Allianz Arena and help BVB.

Dortmund will have to take care of their own business regardless of what Bayern is doing and an away game at Freiburg has proven to be a tricky affair. Bayern did not manage to win against Christian Streich’s team a few weeks ago and BVB have to show their best performance if they want the three points.

BVB will have to do this without Hakimi and Piszczek and possibly also without Dan-Axel Zagadou. Favre admitted that the French defender was questionable for the upcoming match and that it would depend on today’s training session. If Zagadou is out we might see either Toprak or Balerdi next to Akanji in the center of the defense.

Borussia Dortmund have worked with Eurowings since 2016 but according to Ruhr Nachrichten both parties will go separate ways at the end of the season. The airline brought the black and yellows to their away games for the past two years in a special BVB-themed airplane but it seems like Dortmund will have to work with another airline company in the future.

  • Europa League

Eintracht Frankfurt have turned a 2:4 away loss around with a 2:0 win at home and have advanced to the semifinals. The last German team left in an international competition will now face Chelsea for a spot in the final. Filip Kostic and BVB-loaned Sebastian Rode scored the decisive goals for Frankfurt.

Chelsea qualified for the semifinals in a wild 4:3 win, 5 goals were all scored in the first 30 minutes of the match.

The second semifinal will be Valenica, who had no trouble with Villareal winning 5:1 on aggregate, and Arsenal. The Gunners won both games against Napoli in surprisingly comfortable fashion.
