It’s finally the international break, and many Borussia Dortmund players are off to their respective national teams. There’s a good mix of international friendlies and Euro 2020 Qualifying matches coming up. Many BVB players have also been called up to their respective youth squads.

Senior Call-Ups

Germany

Marco Reus will be Borussia Dortmund’s lone call-up to Die Mannschaft. It’s been a pretty tumultuous couple weeks for the German National Team. Manager Joachim Löw recently announced that Mats Hummels, Jérôme Boateng, and Thomas Müller, who were helped win Germany the World Cup in 2014, have been cut from the squad. While this has allowed Löw to bring up younger players, it has caused quite a lot of controversy in Germany. Their qualifying match against Netherlands will be a big test for Löw’s new, younger squad.

Upcoming Matches

Germany vs Serbia - March 20th (15:45 EST) - International Friendly

Netherlands vs Germany - March 24th (15:45 EST) - UEFA Qualifier

England

As BVB’s only English player, Jadon Sancho will be the club’s lone English call-up. The 18-year old will join the three lions at Wembley against the Czech Republic, before traveling to Montenegro. It will be a good opportunity for Sancho to get some experience playing with England’s top players.

Upcoming Matches

England vs Czech Republic - March 22nd (15:45 EST) - UEFA Qualifier

Montenegro vs England - March 25th (15:45 EST) - UEFA Qualifier

Denmark

Thomas Delaney and Jacob Bruun Larsen are the two Danish call-ups. These two will have a chance to face teammate Manuel Akanji when Denmark face Switzerland next Tuesday.

Upcoming Matches

Kosovo vs Denmark - March 21st (14:00 EST) - International Friendly

Switzerland vs Denmark - March 26th (15:45 EST) - UEFA Qualifier

United States

Christian Pulisic has been called up for the USMNT. The United States has two international friendlies coming up, against Ecuador and Chile.

Upcoming Matches

United States vs Ecuador - March 21st (20:00 EST) - International Friendly

United States vs Chile - March 26th (19:55 EST) - International Friendly

Switzerland

The Swiss have two important UEFA qualifiers coming up against Georgia and Denmark. Manuel Akanji, who was a revelation during the 2018 World Cup, will make his return to the senior squad.

Upcoming Matches

Georgia vs Switzerland - March 23rd (10:00 EST) - UEFA Qualifier

Switzerland vs Denmark - March 26th (15:45 EST) - UEFA Qualifier

Portugal

Raphael Guerreiro is Dortmund’s lone Portuguese call-up. He’s had a bit of a breakout year with Borussia Dortmund, the first in a while where he’s been able to see important minutes on a consistent basis, so it’s nice to see him rewarded with recognition at the international level.

Upcoming Matches

Portugal vs Ukraine - March 22nd (15:45 EST) - UEFA Qualifier

Portugal vs Serbia - March 25th (15:45 EST) - UEFA Qualifier

Morocco

Last but not least, Achraf Hakimi has been called up for Morocco. Morocco has a decent squad going, with BVB-target Hakim Ziyech and veteran defender Medhi Benatia featuring. They only have one fixture, and it’s a friendly against Argentina. Maybe Hakimi will get a chance to defend against Lionel Messi!

Upcoming Matches

Morocco vs Argentina - March 26th (19:00 EST) - International Friendly

Youth Call-Ups

Abdou Diallo - France U-21

Dan-Axel Zagadou - France U-20
