Jadon Sancho spoke to FourFourTwo about his move from Manchester City to Dortmund and why it made sense for him. The youngster will be on the cover of their March issue and will become the youngest player on the cover of the magazine since Lionel Messi in 2005. Here’s already a small excerpt from the interview:

“Why Dortmund? It speaks for itself: youngsters get opportunities,” he says. “You’ve got to thank Dortmund, because it’s unheard of for a team that gets 80,000 fans at every home game to put so much faith in youngsters. It was crazy how many clubs wanted me – it shows how well you’re doing, but I always felt Dortmund was right for me.”

“Of course it was a big risk. I wasn’t guaranteed playing time, and I had to prove I was good enough to fit in with their side. A few people weren’t sure when I first told them about Dortmund, but I felt this was the best journey for me. Just try it, you know? I like trying new things, so it didn’t really faze me. A few asked me, ‘What if it doesn’t work out?’ but I never thought about that. And look at how it’s worked out now...”

  • DFB Cup

Today the first four matches of the DFB Cup round of sixteen will be played. Borussia Dortmund will have a tough task with Werder Bremen but they are still the heavy favorites especially considering the game will be played at the Signal Iduna Park.

Every other match today will feature at least one lower tier team. Leverkusen will travel to 2.Bundesliga side FC Heidenheim, HSV are taking on Nürnberg and Duisburg host Paderborn. Bayer Leverkusen are the clear favorites but the other two games should be close affairs.

  • BVB will rotate against Bremen

Lucien Favre announced during the pre-game press conference that he will have to rotate to avoid more injuries. The Swiss coach used the examples of Zagadou and Akanji to illustrate what could happen if the same players have to play all the time.

This means players like Schmelzer, Toprak, Dahoud, Pulisic, Bruun Larsen and Philipp could possibly start against Bremen. It’s unlikely Favre would rotate this much but a few changes should be expected.
