  • Matchday 20 recap

Despite only getting a draw against Eintracht Frankfurt, Borussia Dortmund were still able to extend their lead to 7 points thanks to a Bayern defeat at Bayer Leverkusen.

Bayern led the game but former BVB-coach Peter Bosz and his team were able to turn it around and win 3:1 which means the Bavarians not only lost ground on Dortmund but also dropped down to 3rd place because Gladbach was able to win their game against Schalke. Mönchengldbach will have to be taken seriously in the battle for the title.

Leverkusen are now fully back in the race for the Europa League spots sitting in 7th and just one point behind Wolfsburg in 6th.

The teams in the relegation zone did surprisingly well on this matchday, only one (Hannover) of the bottom 6 teams lost and Augsburg as able to pick up three crucial points.

  • Kagawa scores brace in debut

Shinji Kagawa has left a strong first impression on his debut for Besiktas, scoring a brace in a 6-2 victory against Antalyaspor. Kagawa got subbed in in the 81st minute and scored one minute later with his first shot of the game, just two minutes later he scored again on a free kick.

  • Schürrle-loan could end earlier than expected (kicker)

André Schürrle is currently playing on loan for Fulham in the Premier League and he has done quite well, scoring 6 goals in 21 games for the club. The initial deal was for two years until the summer of 2020 however Schürrle himself has now revealed that he could return earlier if Fulham get relegated. Talking to kicker Schürrle said:

“My loan would end in case of a relegation. The contract in Dortmund would be active again.”

This seems to be a likely scenario at the moment, Fulham are currently in 19th place, trailing a non-relegation spot by 7 points. Even if Schürrle would have to return it is unlikely that he’ll get another chance at Dortmund.
