- Favre coy on Haaland-rumors
Lucien Favre was asked during the press conference if Erling Haaland would fit his profile and the Swiss coach didn’t exactly deny the ongoing rumors. Favre just smiled and had the following to say:
“(We want) A player who can do everything: score goals, pressing, combine with the team, run in the depths, that would be all right” but he also added “We’re probably interested in several players, but you know it’s very hard to make a transfer in the winter.”
At this point it seems pretty clear that the Salzburg striker would be their number one option but as Favre noted, winter transfers are notoriously hard to pull of. Even if there is a release clause in his contract, players sometimes are reluctant to move in January especially they’re doing well with their current club.
- Gladbach vs Bayern
Borussia Dortmund will need to take care of business against Fortuna Düsseldorf and they might have a chance to move up in the table.
Leaders Borussia Mönchengladbach clash with Bayern Munich this weekend. Gladbach could prove once and for all that they are a serious title contender with a win against Bayern and a second loss in a row for the Bavarians could lead them to their next crisis this season.
Meanwhile, Scahlke (at Leverkusen) and RB Leipzig (vs Hoffenheim) also have tough games this week where they could drop points.

Daily Buzz: Mats Hummels (suspension), Thomas Delaney (ankle injury) and Marcel Schmelzer (muscle fiber tear) are out for tomorrow’s game against Fortuna Düsseldorf. Paco Alcacer is also still questionable according to Lucien Favre, Julian Weigl and manuel Akanji who missed some practices will be ready to play.
This leaves Lucien Favre with a difficult decision on defense. Hummels who has been Dortmund’s best defender is out and Akanji might not be at full strength, so will he stick with a 3-man backline and if he does will Balerdi finally see some game time?
How should BVB line-up and what’s your score prediction?
