The Daily Bee (December 16th, 2019): Borussia Dortmund draw Paris St. Germain in the Champions League

The Bundesliga has a new leader! RB Leipzig took over the top spot with their dominant 3:0 win against Fortuna Düsseldorf. Leipzig have been very consistent under Julian Nagelsmann and they have a goal scoring machine in Timo Werner. This team can win the league.

Borussia Mönchengladbach definitely did not have a good week. On Thursday they got eliminated from the Europa League after a last minute goal and yesterday they lost the lead in the league once again after a last minute goal. Maximilian Arnold scored a screamer to give VfL Wolfsburg a 2:1 win.

Borussia Dortmund are back on track since switching to the 3-4-3, winning 4:0 against Mainz 05. However, the real test will come on Tuesday against RB Leipzig. It’s somewhat unbelievable but if the black and yellows manage to win that game they will be right in the middle of the title race.

Schalke 04 are in the top four, BVB’s rivals defeated Eintracht Frankfurt 1:0. Bayern Munich are also back on track after two losses in a row in the league. The Bavarians smashed Werder Bremen 6:1.

SC Paderborn are back at the bottom of the table because of their 1:1 draw against Union Berlin and Köln’s unexpected 2:0 against Bayer Leverkusen.

• BVB vs PSG

Thomas Tuchel and Abdou Diallo will return to Dortmund in the round of sixteen in the Champions League. The black and yellows drew PSG as their first opponent in the knockout stages.

The French team finished their group in first place ahead of Real Madrid and they did not lose a single game, their worst result was a 2:2 draw in Madrid. PSG are a tough opponent with a world class offense, they will no doubt be considered the favorites but BVB has a chance to advance.

The other Bundesliga teams drew tough teams as well, Bayern Munich will play Chelsea and RB Leipzig will have to go up against last year’s finalist Tottenham Hotspur.
