Atalanta Bergamo and Atletico Madrid became the last two clubs to qualify for the knockout stages.

The Italian side won 3:0 against Shakhtar and were helped by Manchester City’s 4:1 against Dinamo Zagreb. Qualifying for the next round is quite the achievement for Atalanta, they had only one point after four games but still managed to sneak into the round of sixteen.

Atletico finished second in their group thanks to a 1:0 win against Locomotive Moscow. This leaves Bayer Leverkusen in third place and demotes them to the Europa League.

Erling Haaland and his agent Mino Raiola were in Dortmund yesterday, supposedly for negotiations with BVB about a transfer. It’s not yet clear if that transfer would happen in January or at the end of the season. Borussia Dortmund are not the only club that is in talks with Haaland, before visiting Dortmund he was in Leipzig.

It seems that BVB are in a very good position to get Haaland, although RB Leipzig have the obvious tie with RB Salzburg that could make a transfer easier for them. In the end it will be the striker’s decision and BVB will be able to offer a starting spot in team that excels at developing young players.

According to The Telegraph Borussia Dortmund have joined a long list of suitors for former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino. The article claims BVB are tracking Pochettino in case they decide to make a change at the coaching position. However, manchester United, Arsenal, Everton and even Bayern Munich are also mentioned as possible destinations.

Quite frankly this seems a bit unrealistic, Pochettino is a good coach and he will get a lot of offers once he signals that he’s ready to coach again. Offers that Dortmund is probably not gonna be able to match. Furthermore, after the last three wins in a row, the chances of Lucien favre actually getting sacked in the near future have become very slim.
