Bayern Munich continue their excellent form under Hansi Flick with a 6:0 against Red Star Belgrade. Robert Lewandowski scored 4 goals and has a serious claim as the world’s best player right now. In the same group Tottenham turned around a 0:2 to win 4:2 and secure their spot in the round of sixteen.

Bayer Leverkusen have kept their chances alive with a 2:0 victory against Locomotive Moscow and Atletico’s 0:1 loss against Juventus. However, Leverkusen will need to win their last game against Juventus and hope that Moscow can get at least a draw against Atletico.

Borussia Dortmund will play a crucial game against Barcelona which comes at the worst possible time for the black and yellows. This game might decide Lucien Favre’s future, despite reports that he will also coach BVB against Hertha on Saturday no matter the rsult today. Nevertheless, a win today would certainly help his cause and a loss, especially if it’s a similar performance to the one against SC Paderborn, could definitely get him sacked.

RB Leipzig are in a great position in group G but they still need a win to qualify for the next round and they will look to secure it at home versus Benfica Lisbon.

  • Klinsmann back in the Bundesliga

BVB’s next Bundesliga opponent Hertha BSC Berlin has changed their coach. Ante Covic, who took over for Pal Dardai this summer, has been let go. Hertha started this season with high expectations, however the team has been disappointing so far, being in 15th place and in the relegation zone instead of hunting for a European spot.

Jürgen Klinsmann will take over for Covic. The former Germany, Bayern Munich and USMNT coach is a bit of a peculiar choice. Except for Germany’s run during the 2006 World Cup to the semifinals, Klinsmann hasn’t exactly had a successful career as a coach. Klinsmann will take over until the end of the season.
