Borussia Dortmund are reportedly looking to reinforce their midfield with German international Emre Can. The 25-year-old isn’t getting enough playing time at Juventus, only four Serie A-appearances and the club didn’t even nominate him for their Champions League squad. This means Can could be available for only 20€ million in January but the problem will be his salary which is currently at 12€ million per year, BVB probably can’t pay as much.

Can is an interesting midfielder but his best position is probably as a defensive midfielder which BVB have plenty. A more creative player to add to the midfield would probably be a better choice, especially considering Can’s wages.

Lucien Favre has come to the defense of Jadon Sancho who has been criticized recently:

“He’s a real guy, I’m fine with him. In the whole debate, we must not forget that here we are talking about a 19-year-old, who is currently under immense pressure - and measured by his age - has been exceptionally consistent. He is now a superstar in England, is confronted daily with new headlines, rumors and millions. Nobody could ignore this.”

Favre also commented on the controversial striker-topic:

“We will - as Michael Zorc has already emphasized - do an analysis in the winter. And if we come to the conclusion that we need a striker, we will certainly try to act. Michael and I are always in close exchange about the market.”

At this point it’s hard to see how they would not come to the conclusion that this team needs another striker. The problem will be the tough market situation in January, not many top players will be available.
