One of Borussia Dortmund’s main problems still isn’t fixed, the black and yellows desperately need another striker. Paco Alcacer is good when he’s on the pitch, unfortunately the Spaniard is injury prone, that’s why BVB are looking for another player to add to the roster.
A familiar name has surfaced once again with Olivier Giroud. The French striker has been linked to BVB several times over the last couple years but a transfer never materialized. Giroud is currently under contract at Chelsea but he is at best a role player for Frank Lampard’s team right now and could possibly be available in January.
Giroud is already 33 and not a long term solution but he could certainly help this team and might be one of the best available options in January.
Dzenis Burnic is on loan with Dynamo Dresden and has established himself as a starter. However, the club isn’t doing well right now, being in the relegation zone (17th place) and fighting to stay in the 2.Bundesliga. In an interview with transfermarkt, Burnic talked about his extension with BVB before the loan-deal and why he didn’t move to Dresden on a permanent deal:
“For me it is important that I play a lot during this time, collecting many minutes of play. I got the trust from Dynamo Dresden and also from the coach. I’m grateful for that and that’s why it was the right step to spend another year here and to collect many minutes.”
“Sure, you can always argue about whether that would have been useful or you have a different perspective. For BVB a purchase option for Dynamo was out of the question. Finally, I’m happy to play here for another year, and then you’ll see what happens in the summer.”
The defensive midfielder also talked about his possible future in Dortmund:
“To be honest, I have not thought much about that, because at the moment I’m only interested in the fact that I play a lot. Only then can I get a chance in Dortmund. I can only do that with playing minutes and if I can improve myself.”
Jadon Sancho has repeatedly been linked to Manchetser United, PSG and Real Madrid but Bild is the latest outlet to claim that Liverpool is also in the mix for the young winger. In addition they claim to know BVB’s asking price which is at 140€ million for Sancho.
This could be just pure speculation but it is probably close to the fee that BVB will eventually ask for if Sancho hits the market which seems inevitable at this point. It’s just a question when he’ll leave, either in January or play out the season and move next summer.
