We were 7 minutes of from the biggest Cup upset in recent history but in the end Bayern Munich prevailed and were able to turn it around, winning 2:1 against VfL Bochum. The Bavarians needed two late goals from Gnabry and Müller to get past the struggling 2.Bundesliga side.

However, we still got some major upsets yesterday, the biggest one obviously being 1.FC Köln losing 2:3 to Regionalliga side 1.FC Saarbrücken. Köln has not played well so far this season and this unexpected loss will put some pressure on their coach Achim Beierlorzer.

In addition, SC Freiburg’s 1:3 home loss to Union Berlin should probably considered an upset considering how good Freiburg has been this season.

Three additional Bundesliga teams advanced to the next round, TSG Hoffenheim won 2:0 against MSV Duisburg, Bayer Leverkusen defeated SC Paderborn 1:0 and Schalke avoided a late comeback from Arminia Bielefeld winning 3:2 after already being ahead 3:0.

Furthermore, VfB Stuttgart won the 2.Bundesliga duel against HSV 2:1 and Karlsruhe beat Darmstadt 1:0.

BVB will host Borussia Mönchengladbach today for the second time in two weeks. Hopefully this game ends in the same fashion the last one did.

Borussia Dortmund are already looking for potential replacements for Jadon Sancho. The young winger still has a contract until 2022 but the signs point to an early exit next summer. According to Sport Bild the club is looking for at least 100€ million but are aiming for a fee similar to Ousmane Dembélé’s 148€ million that they got from Barcelona.

Two possible replacements are Hertha BSC Berlin’s Javairo Dilrosun and Valencia’s Ferran Torres. Dilrosun has played well this season with 3 goals and 2 assists in 6 games and he can play on both sides of the pitch. However, the Dutch winger still has a contract until 2022 and would definitely not be cheap.

Torres would be another young talent with an incredible high ceiling but without much experience. The 19-year old is touted as one of Europe’s biggest talents at the winger position but he would likely not be able to replace Sancho’s production right away.
