  • Matchday 8

Nobody wants the lead in the Bundesliga.

For a second week in a row Borussia Mönchengladbach will finish the matchday at the top of the table, despite their 0:1 loss to BVB. The black and yellows are right back in the thick of things in 4th place just one point behind Gladbach.

The most surprising result of the weekend was Bayern Munich’s 2:2 draw against FC Augsburg. The bavarians dominated the game but weren’t able to close it out and Augsburg scored a late equalizer to steal a point. In other words Bayern did exactly what Dortmund did for the last three matchdays.

Four other teams that could have jumped to first place, RB Leipzig and VfL Wolfsburg drew 1:1, SC Freiburg lost 0:2 to Union Berlin and Schalke 04 lost 0:2 to TSG Hoffenheim.

This sets up a potentially crazy matchday 9 where nine teams have a chance to finish at the top of the table.

  • Bürki injury update

Roman Bürki had to be subbed of in Dortmund’s 1:0 win against Gladbach. BVB’s starting goalkeeper suffered a capsule sprain in his left knee but he still has a chance to play against Inter Milan on Wednesday. If Bürki can’t make it in time BVB will have to rely on Marwin Hitz.

Jadon Sancho was suspended for the match against Borussia Mönchengladbach and fined 100.000€ for being back late from the international break. The youngster missed one day without an excuse and BVB don’t want another Aubameyang/Dembélé situation on their hands.

  • Real entering Sancho-sweepstakes

New reports suggest Real Madrid are the latest club to signal interest in Jadon Sancho. Real could rival Manchester United and enter the bidding war for the young winger.
