Borussia Dortmund will need to pay a fine of 29.875€ because of the fans use of pyro during the Champions League game against Slavia Prague. In addition the club will need to pay for the damages caused by the fans.
Dortmund’s youth sporting director Lars Ricken has talked to Die Welt about BVB’s youth development and the current challenges to produce the next big stars. One of the interesting topics in the interview is the fact that BVB have made out the mentality and resilience to be a problem.
We also observed developments in our youth field which we considered to be questionable: For example, in the past two years with respect to our U19 team, we found that although we had the strongest squad in Germany, we were still struggling and got lucky to get to the semifinals for the German championship. We have come to the conclusion that this is not a purely football-specific problem: players often lacked resilience. This is to be seen in an overall social context. Young people today find it harder to fight against resistance. But we do not want to develop little princes in colorful football boots!
It’s a very interesting interview that can be found in it’s entirety on BVB’s site.
- Bundesliga is back!
Finally, after a long international break the Bundesliga is back, the clash between Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen will kick of matchday 8. BVB will host current leaders Borussia Mönchengladbach and have to bounce back if they want to compete for the title.
Lovely weekend of football ahead of us ⚽
