German won their game against Estonia 3:0 and are now level on points with the Netherlands in group C. Germany were down to ten players in the 14th minute because of a foul from Emre Can. Die Mannschaft struggled for the rest of the first half but still got the win thanks to a brace from Ilkay Gündogan and a goal from Timo Werner. Marco Reus and Julian Brandt were in the starting eleven but were mostly invisible except for an assist from Reus to set up Gündogan’s second goal.

Russia and Poland both won their games and qualified early for the European championship next year.

Mateu Morey joined Borussia Dortmund this summer from FC Barcelona. The young fullback suffered an injury early on and has not yet played for BVB but he is on his way back and will surely get his chance in the coming weeks.

In an interview with Ruhr Nachrichten Morey has talked about his decision to join BVB instead of a club from England, Juventus or even Bayern Munich who were all interested in him:

“Yes that’s true. There were a few inquiries. [...] I think BVB is one of the best teams in Germany and I think above all that my chances as a young player here are greater than at other clubs”

Morey asked Sergio Gomez about the club who advised him to join the black and yellows:

“I talked to Sergio, who had been here for a year. After that, it was clear to me that I wanted to take this step. In the end, the decision was easy.”
