OFFICIAL: Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea agree Christian Pulisic deal

The American will stay until the end of the season on loan

Fortuna Duesseldorf v Borussia Dortmund - Bundesliga

Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea have agreed to a 64€ million transfer of Christian Pulisic. The young American will stay in Dortmund on loan an complete the current season with the black and yellows before joining his new club in the summer.

The 20-year-old winger joined BVB’s U17 in 2014 and worked his way up through the youth teams until his debut during the 2015/16 season. Pulisic has played 115 games for Borussia Dortmund so far, scoring 15 goals and adding 24 assists. His biggest succes so far has been winning the DFB Cup with Dortmund in 2017.

Michael Zorc has commented on the transfer:

“It was always Christian’s big dream to play in the Premier League. That certainly has to do with Christian’s American background, and as a result we were unable to extend his contract. Against this background, we’ve decided to accept an extremely lucrative bid by Chelsea, given the low contract maturity.”

”Christian Pulisic is a perfect player in terms of his character,” Zorc continued. “I’m sure that in the coming months he’ll do everything in his power to bring his high quality to the team and to achieve his sporting objectives with his team-mates at Borussia Dortmund.”

Pulisic himself has already released a statement addressing the move:

Pulisic will hopefully be able to finish his BVB-career on a high note with Dortmund currently in a title race with Bayern Munich. Now it remains to be seen what Michael Zorc and Hans-Joachim Watzke plan to do with the money, rumors suggest the club is targeting Thorgan Hazard as a replacement.
