  • Europa League results

The Bundesliga had a decent start in European competitions. In the Champions League they recorded two wins and two draws and added two more victories in the Europa League. The only team that lost was RB Leipzig who lost to 2:3 to the second Red Bull team in FC Salzburg. The Austrian club is usually called Red Bull Salzburg but because of UEFA regulations has to rename itself to FC Salzburg.

Bayer Leverkusen had to overcome a horrible start that saw them down 0:2 after just 31 minutes but they were able to turn it around and win the game 3:2. Surprisingly Eintracht Frankfurt also won their duel with Olympique Marseille. Frankfurt were down after just 3 minutes but were able to equalize and eventually score the winning 2:1 with a man down. So except for Leipzig losing to their farm team this was actually a decent week for the Bundesliga.

Other notable results are Arsenal winning 4:2 against Vorskla, Chelsea winning 1:0 against PAOK and Luxembourg’s first ever team in a European competition, Dudelange losing 0:1 to AC Milan.

  • BVB linked to Haller (calciomercato)

Italian media have linked Eintracht Frankfurt’s Sebastian Haller to BVB. The 24-year-old striker scored the equalizer for Frankfurt against the black and yellows last Friday and has been a solid centre forward for Eintracht since he joined them in 2017. So far this season Haller has scored 3 goals in the first three Bundesliga games. Dortmund’s biggest weakness this season has been the anemic play at striker. BVB faithful are hopeful that Paco Alcacer can be the solution to the attacking problems and in the 20 minutes he has played against Frankfurt he looked good but Dortmund should look for a back-up in case Alcacer is missing and Haller could be a solid option.

  • BVB interested in Remo Freuler? (Gazzetta dello Sport)

According to the Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport Borussia Dortmund as well as Gladbach are interested in Atalanta Bergamo midfielder Remo Freuler. The 26-year-old Swiss international usually plays in central midfield as a defensive midfielder or box-to-box player.

This would be rather suprising considering BVB’s current depth in central midfield. This would only be an option if one (or several) players would leave BVB in January or next summer.
