The Champions League draw has finally come and gone. It takes so long for the presenters to get through the awards and platitudes that sometimes it feels like the draw will never actually take place.
But it has! And Dortmund will be playing in what is a manageable group.
On Thursday evening BVB were drawn into Group A with Atlético Madrid, AS Monaco, and Club Brugge.

Atlético are always a tough nut to crack. Diego Simeone’s teams are disciplined, but still skillful. Antoine Griezmann, Diego Costa, and Thomas Lemar will be tough to defend.
AS Monaco can really be hit or miss in European competitions. Dortmund were victims of their incredible run a couple of years ago with Kylian Mbappe, but this isn’t the same team. Radamel Falcao still represents a very credible goal threat.
Club Brugge are the weakest team in the group. The Belgian league is a significant step down from the major leagues of Europe, but it would be unwise for the squad to take any opponent for granted at this stage of the competition.
The group stage will get underway in September.
