- What the hell is going on?
The speculation surrounding BVB’s striker search is peaking with several rumors popping up, let’s take a look at the different players:
Pedro from Fluminense doesn’t seem to be an option anymore. There are no rumors about BVB bidding for the 21-year old instead different French and Brazilian outlets claim both Girondins Bordeaux and CF Monterrey are bidding for him. Bordeaux’s initial offer of 8.5€ million and Monterrey’s offer of 15€ million have both been rejected.
ESPN claims BVB are still trying to sign Divock Origi but would prefer a loan deal. Liverpool still value their centre forward at 30€ million.
Meanwhile Yahoo Sport France claim BVB will make an offer of 30€ million for Nicolas Pépé from OSC Lille. The 23-year-old can play at striker but is mainly a right winger. However this seems like random name dropping and is rather unlikely.
Dortmund chaud pour Nicolas Pépé ( LOSC) . Offre à venir avoisinant les 30M € ! Joueur à l’écoute, pourrait être intéressé par le BVB et la Bundesliga. pic.twitter.com/EgfQNrDUBH

The most realistic target seems to be Paco Alcacer. According to RAC1 Dortmund officials are in Barcelona to negotiate a deal with Barca and the player. Even though there were reports in Spain claiming Alcacer would rather stay in Sapin and join Real Betis, now Sport Bild claim Alcacer has agreed to join BVB quoting Spanish media as the source. The 24-year old would cost 20€ million but Dortmund would prefer to loan the striker for one season.
New BVB-coach Lucien Favre made some interesting comments during an interview with Sport Bild:
About the expectations: “Of course it’s our goal to build a team that can win titles in the long run - that I can say. But sometimes that takes 2 or 3 years. I know how big the hopes are. During my holiday I met a lot of BVB fans who all told me ‘Now BVB is chasing Bayern, it will be suspensful again’.” He clearly disagrees (to some degree): “It isn’t that easy. Please give us time! BVB just declared a fresh start.”
On the striker situation: “It isn’t easy to find a player that fits. The transfer fees ar crazy but I accept it (the situation) without a problem. It will be our task to find a solution.”
On his dream targets: “Kylian Mbappé and Eden Hazard. But it’s just a joke now”, he continued “Mbappé is incredible. He’s 19 and so mature, so clever. He makes the difference with a lot of intelligence. He can play for the collective, he’s fast. And if Hazard has the ball - oh, là, là - he’s physically there. It’s a pleasure to watch him.”
