This one has moved along quite quickly. It was just yesterday when we heard that Andriy Yarmolenko was being allowed to miss a medical test at Dortmund to find a transfer to another club.

It seems like he has now found that club. According to Kicker, he is set to move to West Ham United.

Yarmolenko joined BVB last August for a €25 million fee, and will now leave for around €20 million. He had a disappointing season under Peter Bosz and Peter Stoger. His only real highlight was a goal against Spurs in the Champions League group stage.

€20 million is a solid fee for Dortmund to collect here, especially on a player who is turning 29 this season. They’re pretty well covered on the wings even without Yarmolenko, but they can now reinvest that fee into other areas of the squad.

West Ham can afford to shell out sums like this, but they might be disappointed with what they get. Yarmolenko probably stayed in Ukraine too long. There’s a chance that he can still adapt and succeed in a top European league, but the Premier League is a notoriously tough place to do that.

Yarmolenko’s move to the Hammers should be official early this week.
