Along with Chelsea and Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund are named as the third club that is interested in Martial. The French youngster only has one year left on his deal with Manchester United and is refusing to sign a new deal which could force ManU to sell him this summer. Martial has played most of his career on the left wing but he could also line-up as a striker, a position of need for BVB.

Dortmund definitely can’t compete with the likes of Chelsea and Bayern when it comes to wages but BVB could offer him a guaranteed starting spot which both other clubs probably can’t or won’t give him.

  • Axel Witsel rumors continue

Over the weekend Funke linked Axel Witsel to BVB, which initially seemed a bit unrealistic but the outlet has been very reliable in the past and it seems they have been correct. Today multiple French outlets and Ruhr Nachrichten confirm that BVB are indeed negotiating with the Belgian international. While several French outlets claim that the negotiations are “advanced”, Ruhr Nachrichten seem a bit more reluctant claiming that Witsel’s current wages with Chinese team TJ Quanjian could become a problem.

  • BVB 3-1 Liverpool

Borussia Dortmund defeated Liverpool 3-1 in their second friendly of the US-tour. Dortmund once again looked solid although there were still a lot of mistakes on both sides. Both squads were definitely not at full strength and it showed but BVB still showed some promising football. Christian Pulisic certainly stood out with two goals and one assist, most notably the 2-1 goal to give BVB the lead and which was the best counter of the game.

Sebastian Rode and Ömer Toprak did not play, Rode because BVB want to take it slow after his injury and Toprak as a precaution but both will probably be back against Sporting.
