The Daily Bee (July 19th, 2018): Morata rumors won’t die down

Swansea City v Chelsea - Premier League
  • BVB have arrived in the USA

Borussia Dortmund have started their US-tour and have released a first schedule for their stay in Chicago until the friendly against Manchester City at Soldier Field on Friday.

In an article primarily about Chelsea’s interest in Gonzalo Higuain, BVB is mentioned as a club “monitoring” Alvaro Morata. Chelsea will need to offload at least one (possibly two) of their strikers to make room for Higuain and are reportedly looking to sell Morata and Batshuayi.

This has been the story for a few weeks now, if Higuain does join Chelsea there will be an opening to get Morata but it all depends on Morata’s willingness to join the black and yellows and the financials will also be a determining factor. Morata has shown that he can be a solid striker but a transfer would still be a big financial risk for Dortmund.

Daily Buzz: Let’s talk about our big rivals for once, FC Bayern didn’t really have a buys summer so far in terms of actual moves (Goretzka on a free and Gnabry and Sanches returned from loans) but there are several rumors surrounding the club. Surprisingly most of them are about players leaving and not joining them (with Pavard being the exception). Boateng, Vidal, Thiago and James have all been linked to other clubs in some form and surprisingly Bayern actually seem willing to let them go for the right price. In addition the Lewandowski-drama continues, something BVB-fans are just all to familiar with.

The summer is still long and if anybody leaves them we can be sure that they will react accordingly but it still seems that their squad is going through the biggest changes in years. What do you think about their situation? Are they better or weaker right now? Do BVB (and the rest of the Bundesliga) have a chance to compete with Bayern next season?
