Castro has struggled greatly at BVB the past two years and definitely needed a fresh tart somewhere else. He regularly was played when he seems to be out of form. Castro started to become synonymous with Dortmunds problems whether it was fair or not.
In his first year for BVB Castro was fantastic putting up 7 goals and 11 assists in all competitions. His pairing with either Weigl or Gundogan always gave him room to work. After he dropped off significantly and never has returned to the form he had with us or Bayern Leverkusen. Towards the end of the pas season he was finally taken out of the rotation as his form just couldn’t cut it. With his age and form this move was the right call for BVB as he probably won’t get too much better.
Good luck Gonzo!
