Borussia Dortmund have signed their second goalkeeper of the summer. Eric Oelschlägel is a 22 year old keeper from Werder Bremen, and will be coming to Dortmund on a free transfer.

Barring further injuries to Dortmund’s keepers, Oelschlägel will not likely compete for a spot in the senior squad, with Marwin Hitz and Roman Bürki the established top two keepers at the club. Instead, it is reported that Oelschlägel will report to BVB II in the Regionliga West.

Oelschlägel spent his time at Werder Bremen’s U-23s, making 36 appearances with Werder Bremen II in the Bundesliga III. He even went to Rio de Janeiro with Germany for the 2016 olympics, although he did not see any minutes.

As a 22 year old, Oelschlägel still has a long time to develop into a Bundesliga-caliber goalkeeper. Coming to Borussia Dortmund is a great opportunity for him to develop his skills and become a top class keeper.
