Remember when there was a mystery team that made an offer for David Neres? Well, De Telegraaf claims today that Borussia Dortmund was that mystery club. According to the report the black and yellows offered 30€ milli for Neres, but Ajax Amsterdam rejected the offer.
This is a very intersting move for Borussia Dortmund, especially if you consider that reports out of Portugal also claim that BVB are scouting Gelson Martins, another winger. Winger was actually a position where BVB seemed to be set but this could indicate that some players are leaving, Schürrle and maybe Yarmolenko or that some players are going to play other positions, Reus and Philipp could both play at striker (Reus was mostly used as a second striker when he played for Favre). This would open up one or maybe even two spots on the wings and David Neres is a very intriguing player.
- CB problems
Borussia Dortmund still hasn’t clinched a spot in the Champions League for next season and now Peter Stöger will have to improvise on defense for the last crucial game in Hoffenheim. Sokratis is suspended for the last game and Ömer Toprak is injured which means both starters at centerback will miss the game. Manuel Akanji will move back inside which means Marcel Schmelzer will probably start at left back but one spot in the center of the defense remains open.
Dan-Axel Zagadou is one option but the youngster hasn’t played in weeks and his last game against Salzburg in the Europa League wasn’t exactly convincing. Another option could be moving Lukasz Piszczek inside but that would open up a hole at right back. BVB have already called up U23 centerback Patrick Mainka this week to have more options.
Daily Buzz: We thought for months BVB would need a striker to replace Aubameyang long term but is it possible that the club is moving forward with Reus and Philipp at the position?
