- Rode’s interesting interview
“I want to present myself to the new coach” and “Considering how he (Peter Stöger) talks in the locker room, we (the players) expect to have a new coach come next season.”
Oh boy. Those are just of Sebastian Rode’s quotes from his interview in the football talkshow “Wontorra - der Fussballtalk” on Sky. As expected those quotes created somewhat of a turmoil seeing that BVB haven’t officially confirmed that Stöger will leave at the end of the season. It didn’t take long for Watzke and Zorc to react and they have confirmed (kicker) that they will have a talk with Rode and he’ll get some sort of punishment for the interview.
To be quite honest this is quite disappointing, Rode was just honest which is refreshing when it comes to interviews from football players and he just confirmed what we all know anyway. For Zorc and Watzke to come out and deny that Stöger will leave at the end of the season just makes this entire situation seem more obscure than it really is.
Borussia Dortmund are looking to add a right back and a new name has been linked to the black and yellows, Stephan Lichtsteiner. The 34-year-old right back from Juventus has an expriring contract and would be able to join BVB on a free transfer. According to calciomercato the Swiss international is close to agreeing on a transfer to Dortmund.
This would be a surprising signing for Dortmund. Lichtsteiner is a very good right back but at 34 years old he’s not exactly a signing for the future. Dortmund should probably look at younger players to develop behind Piszczek instead of signing someone who is older than him.
