Borussia Dortmund still don’t have announced who their next coach will be but all signs point to Lucien Favre. According to Ruhr Nachrichten the current coach of OGC Nice will be announced as BVB’s next head coach once the Champions League qualification is secured. The 60-year-old Swiss coach has previously coached Hertha BSC Berlin and Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga. The black and yellows will have to pay his release clause of 3€ million to get him out of his current contract with Nice.
Favre has had success with every team he coached and has generally overachieved with his teams. In addition he has never coached a team with as much talents as BVB has in their squad so it will be interesting to see what he does with the squad. One player who will definitely be happy is Marco Reus who once said about Favre “He’s a sensational coach. Throughout my career I have probably learnt the most from him.”.
- BVB favorite to land Samassékou (L’Equipe)
In today’s print edition of French outlet L’Equipe Borussia Dortmund is named the favorite to land RB Salzburg defensive midfielder Diadie Samassékou. RB Leipzig and Olympique Marseille are mentioned as other interested clubs but BVB appears to be in the lead. Samassékou is 22 and is heralded as one of the best u23s DMs in Europe. If we do land him that may be a good rotation pickup for when Dahoud and Weigl are tired/out of form.
