Michael Gregoritsch had a breakout season with FC Augsburg, playing 33 games and scoring 13 goals and adding 4 assists. The strikers good performances have put some clubs on notice and among them is Borussia Dortmund if a report from Sport Bild is to be believed. The Austrian international is an interesting option for BVB as a role player but it would be highly surprising if he’ll be the long term solution at striker for Dortmund.
Hans-Joachim Watzke has often been criticized in the past year, especially for his public comments about certain topics but this interview with schwatzgelb.de is putting a lot of things into perspective and is a highly recommended read for every BVB-fan out there.
During the lengthy interview Watzke talks about the future assignments of Sebastian Kehl and Matthias Sammer, the disappointing season, the new coach, the aftermath of the bombing and the changes to the squad planned for this summer.
Lucien Favre hasn’t been officially announced as the new BVB-coach just yet but he’s reportedly already involved in Dortmund’s transfer decisions. According to kicker the Swiss coach has nixed the transfer of his fellow countryman Stephan Lichtsteiner. As recently as yesterday all the reports suggested the right back would sign with BVB but apparently Favre is not a fan of the 34-year-old and wants the club to go in a different direction.
The player himself has confirmed that a deal fell through “I’m not going to BVB. We couldn’t come to an agreement. There’s nothing more to say.”
Atletico Madrid have won the Europa League with a 3-0 victory in the final against Olympique Marseille. It was a relatively lopsided final which led to a deserved win for the Spanish side. Antoine Griezmann scored a brace before Gabi capped it of with the third goal. Congrats to Atleti.
