- Mitchell Weiser
According to Sport Bild Borussia Dortmund are the favorites to sign Mitchell Weiser. The 23-year-old right back was close to signing a contract with Bayer Leverkusen but apparently Dortmund interfered and secured the signing of Weiser. He’ll be available for a fee between 11-13€ million because of a release clause in his contract with Hertha BSC Berlin, however the clause will need to be activated before May 1st.
Dortmund’s recent interest in both fullback positions seems to indicate that some of the current players might be on their way out. Jonas Hector could replace the injury-prone Raphael Guerreiro who is rumored to join Thomas Tuchel in Paris or Hector could simply be seen as an upgrade to Marcel Schmelzer. At the right back position Weiser would most definitely compete with Lukasz Piszczek for the starting spot which means Jeremy Toljan could leave this summer. Toljan never really worked out at BVB and their recent interest in other players has led the Stuttgarter-Zeitung to speculate about a possible transfer to VfB Stuttgart for the 23-year-old.
Michy Batshuayi won’t play any more games for Borussia Dortmund this season but there’s still a possibility that BVB might try to sign him to a permanent deal. According to the Evening standard Chelsea expect an offer in excess of 50£ million (~57€ million) for the Belgian striker. With that price tag it seems unlikely BVB will go for him especially considering that BVB will look to make multiple signings this summer.
Turkish media claim Borussia Dortmund have joined the race to sign Besiktas midfielder Oguzhan Özyakup. This is not the first time BVB have been linked to the central midfielder and he could be a solid signing for the black and yellows to reinforce the midfield.
