- Coaching search
Two very different reports regarding the future coach of Borussia Dortmund.
Let’s start with kicker, in their print edition the outlet still claims Peter Stöger has a chance to continue as BVB-coach if he qualifies for the Champions League with the club. However they also claim Lucien Favre could be the next coach for the black and yellows.
While every other German outlet claim that Peter Stöger is definitely not an option anymore, kicker still maintain their position that he’s still an option. A somewhat odd claim in the report is that the Austrian coach himself would turn the job down if “Watzke and Zorc would expect him to make Dortmund the clear number two in Germany again” and that Dortmund would have to change their excessive expectations. If true this would be a rather ridiculous claim considering who Dortmund are.
A more promising candidate would be Marco Rose, the German is currently successfully coaching Red Bull Salzburg. According to Salzburger Nachrichten Rose is the top-candidate for Dortmund, however the negotiations would be tough for BVB because Rose does not have a release clause in his contract.
- Michy Batshuayi injury
Sadly the loss in yesterday’s derby came with even worse news when Michy Batshuyai had to leave the game after a tackle from Stambouli late in the game. The Belgian striker was visibly in a lot of pain and couldn’t leave the pitch on his own. There is no official update on the injury just yet but rumors suggest that he might have played his last game for Borussia Dortmund. Some outlets suggested Batshuayi might have broken his ankle which would mean he’ll miss the last four games with Dortmund as well as the World Cup. Let’s hope those reports don’t turn out to be true.
