American fans of Borussia Dortmund can start planning their road-trips. The Black and Yellows could soon be appearing in a state near you.
The club announced today that it is officially coming to the United States to play a slate of pre-season matches in the 2018 International Champions Cup.

BVB’s return to the United States was expected. There hasn’t been an official reveal of the cities they will play in, but one that has been heavily rumored has been a match in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania against Tottenham Hotspur. There have also been rumblings about a match against Liverpool in Nashville, Tennessee, and one against Manchester City in Chicago.
The match in Pennsylvania certainly makes sense, as it is the state that gave us Christian Pulisic. Pulisic is from Hershey, PA, and he should feature on this tour as the United States failed to qualify for the World Cup that will take place in Russia this June.
Dortmund have plenty of exciting young players who will be worth a trip to see in action, but it’s safe to assume that a lot of their best players will not be available for these matches if they are given time to rest after time competing in the World Cup.
It’s unclear how many matches BVB will be playing stateside, but those rumored three seem like a safe bet. The locations should be officially revealed relatively soon.
