- Rode out for the season
Sebastian Rode has undergone surgery and will miss the rest of the season. In a post shared on twitter Rode explains that he tried to get rid of his nagging groin problems with a conservative approach but the problems persisted so he had to get surgery to hopefully get him healthy again.
The 26-year-old who joined Dortmund in 2016 has only appeared in 22 games for the club because of various injuries and played exactly 44 minutes this season which was during the Super Cup against Bayern Munich back in August.

According to kicker Borussia Dortmund are showing interest in Jonas Hector if Köln get relegated. In case the club does go down, the 27-year-old would have a relatively cheap release clause which is between 7-8€ million. In addition there are rumors about Timo Horn joining the black and yellows. The young goalkeeper is rumored to have a release clause in his contract as well.
On paper BVB does have enough left backs but all of them have problems, Schmelzer isn’t getting younger and has clearly lost a step, Guerreiro just can’t stay healthy, Toljan has been inconsistent and prefers to play on the right side and Durm might never be healthy again at this point. Adding Hector, especially for that price would certainly help. As for Horn, Bürki needs competition and Weidenfeller is retiring at the end of the season. Horn is a young goalkeeper that has shown that he’s talented, he would be a good pick-up for Dortmund.
Daily Buzz: What do you think of Jonas Hector, could he be the future at left back for Dortmund?
