  • Watzke addresses issues

In an interview with the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung Hans-Joachim Watzke has talked about recent issues with players who go on strike to get out like Ousmane Dembélé and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (to some degree). Watzke stated “The next player who tries to pressure us, who lacks effort or goes on strike, will not succeed with it and sit on the stands”. He continued to say that especially the Dembélé-saga was a “disaster” for the club.

He continued to talk about the current squad saying they lack the “mentality” and “team-spirit” of the 2011 and 2012 championship squads and there will be “adjustments” in the summer. Those are some harsh words but to be fair he isn’t really wrong here, this team seemed to be all over the place recently and needs to get back on track if they want to qualify for the Champions League.

  • No buy-option for Batshuayi

Borussia Dortmund have not secured a buy-option for Michy Batshuayi once the loan ends in the summer which might become a problem at some point down the road. According to several outlets Chelsea was open to include an option but they demanded a buy-back option for the Belgian striker. Ever since the infamous Götze-to-Bayern transfer in 2013, the black and yellows have refused to include any options in contracts.
