Two more attackers should be back from injury

Borussia Dortmund are coming off the disappointment of Monday’s 1-1 draw with Augsburg. It was a game they really should have won, but they were ultimately kept to a point because of an inability to score a second goal.

But now BVB’s attacking corps will be receiving a substantial group of reinforcements in the form of two players who have missed long periods of time due to injury.

Both Jadon Sancho and Maximilian Philipp could be options for this Saturday’s match with Red Bull Leipzig. It all depends how they do in training this week. But even if they’re not ready for this weekend, they will both be back in action very soon.

This is great news for the Black and Yellows. Sancho has been out since the 3-2 win over FC Koln on February 2nd. Philipp has been out for even longer. He hasn’t played since December 2nd, when he suffered a kneecap injury in a draw with Bayer Leverkusen.

Dortmund aren’t exactly thin in attack, especially now that Marco Reus is back, but it never hurts to have more options. Both Sancho and Philipp were contributing to the side before they went down with their respective injuries. They’ll add a bit of insurance to the squad when they both do make their returns to the pitch.

Don’t expect them to start anytime soon, but both players have the potential to be super-subs off the bench when they are back in Peter Stöger’s squad.
