The Spurs finished second in group B behind Barcelona, barely beating out Inter Milan tied with 8 points but advancing thanks to the better record against the Serie A team. Mauricio Pochettino’s team is currently sitting in third place in the Premier League, fighting of Chelsea and Arsenal for a Champions League spot.
The black and yellows have a mixed recent history with the Spurs, last season Tottenhal was partly responsible for BVB’s horrible record in the Champions League when Dortmund lost both games 1:3 in London and 1:2 at home. They also met in the Europa League in 2016 with a better ending for Dortmund winning both games 3:0 in the Signal Iduna Park and 2:1 in England.
Dortmund will probably go into the matchup as the slight favorite because of their performances so far but it will be a hard fought series of games. BVB will have to contain the likes of Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son, etc if they want to have a chance but with Reus, Sancho and Alcacer they should have the firepower to compete.
