Borussia Dortmund have drawn SV Werder Bremen in the DFB-Pokal Round of 16. The match will be held at the Westfalenstadion on either February 5th or 6th. This won’t be Werder Bremen’s first trip to the WFS, as the two will meet in Dortmund in the Bundesliga on December 15th. It will be another chance for Dortmund fans to see former BVB player Nuri Sahin again.

Werder Bremen have gotten off to an unusually strong start to the season. They currently sit 6th in the league, but if they defeat Mainz today they could pull into a tie with Bayern and Borussia Mönchengladbach for second place in the league (Mainz are currently leading 1-0). They do seem likely to regress a bit, as they’ve more or less skirted by with several narrow victories, but this clearly isn’t the relegation-fighting Werder Bremen that we’ve seen the past couple seasons.
