The Champions League is back with matchday 5 of the competition. Borussia Dortmund will host Brugge tomorrow and just need one point to advance but they will try to get a win to finish in first place and potentially getting an easier draw in the knockout round.

Today there will be some interesting matchups: Niko Kovac will try to save his job at Bayern who take on Benfica, meanwhile Hoffenheim try to keep their chances alive at home against Shakhtar. The most exciting match is arguably AS Roma hosting Real Madrid, Los Blancos have been struggling this season and have already gone through a coaching change.

According to ESPN José Mourinho is looking for reinforcements to his midfield and has scouted Axel Witsel during the international break:

Jose Mourinho has reignited his interest in Borussia Dortmund midfielder Axel Witsel, with sources telling ESPN FC that the Manchester United manager’s trip to Belgium during the international break centred around scouting the 29-year-old.

This does seem a bit far fetched, Axel Witsel has just signed a long term contract in Dortmund, seems happy to play for BVB and is already one of the most important players of the club. His excellent performances will surely have gotten the attention of many clubs but BVB have no reason to sell and have no reason to let one of their best players go.

  • Kagawa thinking about going to Spain (Nikkan Sports)

Shinji hasn’t played much under Lucien Favre which has many different reasons and it looks increasingly likely that the Japanese fan favorite will leave Borussia Dortmund in January. Talking to Nikkan Sports he has now revealed his desire to play in Spain before ending his career.

Christian Pulisic does not seem to have any interest to sign a new contract with the black and yellows which means BVB will want to sell him next summer at the latest. There is however a possibility that Dortmund will already agree to a deal in January but keep Pulisic until next summer to avoid losing a player in the midst of a title race.

The Telegraph claims that is what might happen. Dortmund would be willing to listen to offers and the report suggests 70£ million (~80€ million) could be enough to convince BVB to sell. Chelsea, Liverpool and Paris St. Germain are the interested clubs.

Daily Buzz: This could be a good deal for Dortmund. It’s very likely Pulisic won’t extend and this way Dortmund could keep him until next summer but already cash in and either get a replacement for him early or spend the money elsewhere to bolster the squad for the title race. Would this deal be a good idea for Dortmund?
