- Manchester City have a matching right for Sancho
As expected rumors surrounding Jadon Sancho have ramped up after his recent performances and the inclusion in the English national team roster. It has gone so far that English media has already claimed that virtually all of the Premier League top teams are interested in him and construed a story where BVB “have named their price”.
The reality is that Sancho has extended until 2022, has just broken into the squad and BVB have probably no intention of selling him. However one fact is that Manchester City have a matching right and will participate from a potential sale. A matching right means that Manchester City can match the highest offer should BVB decide to sell him eventually.
Man City have advantage (sell-on clause, matching right) on rivals over Jadon Sancho transfer #bvb https://t.co/SXUyj0uE2G

The international break is usually the time where some questionable rumors come up, just like the current Sancho rumors. Another one is about BVB preparing an offer for Serie A sensation Krzysztof Piatek who has scored 9 goals in the first 8 games. Borussia Dortmund was actually interested in Piatek this past summer but they got Alcacer instead. It’s possible that Dortmund will go for a striker in January but it won’t be for a starting caliber player but rather someone who will be ok with being a back-up for Alcacer. It would be nice to get someone like Piatek but it’s unlikely he’ll leave FC Genoa anytime soon.
According to Belgian media outlets Lucien Favre wanted to acquire Hans Vanaken from BVB’s Champions League opponent FC Brugge this summer. BVB even asked about the asking price Vincent Mannaert, general manager at FC Brugge, confirmed. However the transfer obviously did not happen. It is interesting that Favre wanted to get another CAM even though Dortmund already had Kagawa, Götze and Reus who can all play the position.
Daily Buzz: Now that transfer rumors are starting back up, what should be BVB’s priority in January? A back-up striker, a left back or maybe another central midfielder?
