BVB fans have known that this was coming for a while, but it still always hurts to see a legend depart the club.
Dortmund today confirmed that Neven Subotic has officially moved to Saint-Étienne of Ligue 1.

Subotic was a great servant of the club, having joined from FC Mainz all the way back in June of 2008. He spent almost 10 years at Dortmund, but hadn’t featured since a couple of appearances in December for the winter break.
The Serbian defender is still only 29, but it was clearly time for a change. Subotic deserves to be playing more than he had been. He definitely has the ability to still put in a few good years in France.
Subotic will be remembered as a sturdy defender in his prime, and a class act off the pitch. At Dortmund he won the Bundesliga twice, the Pokal once, and was also a big part of BVB’s memorable run to the Champions League final in 2013.
We’ll miss you Neven!
