- Auba-update
The first round of negotiations for a potential Aubameyang-transfer to Arsenal took place on Sunday in Dortmund. A delegation including Gunners-CEO Ivan Gazidis and ex-BVB scout Sven Mislintat was in Dortmund to present Arsenal’s first offer. According to reports from Bild and kicker Arsenal offered 50€ million but Dortmund want 70€ million. The negotiations will continue in the coming days and it’s likely they’ll find some sort of common ground. In return Dortmund also want Olivier Giroud on a loan-deal for the rest of the season and will look for a permanent replacement in the summer.
- BVB trying to offload Schürrle
The Daily Mail (I know, I know) claims the black and yellows are trying to get rid of André Schürrle, having offered him to Premier League sides. According to the report Dortmund would be willing to pay half of Schürrle’s salary if any team would be willing to take the World Cup winner on loan for the rest of the season.
While Dortmund would surely like to get rid of Schürrle and his salary, they would probably prefer a permanent move instead of a loan. In addition paying half of the salary wouldn’t help BVB all that much in terms of savings. Besides it is probably better to keep someone around who can play striker as long as the Auba-situation isn’t resolved.
