  • Champions League

The Champions League opened with a disappointment for Dortmund last night. Here are the other results from matchday 1.

Real Madrid had no problem getting the three points at home against APOEL, a result that had to be expected.

Meanwhile there were some surprises, Liverpool only managed a draw at home against Sevilla, Porto lost to Besiktas but the most surprising result has to be Napoli’s loss against Shakhtar.

  • Transfer window

Last week the Premier League decided to shorten their transfer window and close it before the first game in their domestic league. It seems that the German Football League (DFL) is intent on doing the same thing. The idea is to close the window on August 1st and according to Reinhard Rauball (president of the DFL and Borussia Dortmund) they will suggest to the rest of the European leagues to adopt the same date.

The drawn-out transfer sagas this summer (Dembélé, Coutinho, Keita, etc.) took their toll on everyone involved. It remains to be seen if a shortened transfer window will help in that regard.

Daily Buzz: Toprak, Toljan, Dahoud and Yarmolenko all started yesterday, rank them from best to worst. Who impressed, who disappointed?
