Marcel Schmelzer will miss six weeks with a partial tear of his ankle joint. Borussia Dortmund’s captain picked up the injury in yesterday’s game against SC Freibug after a foul from Yoric Ravet in the 27th minute. Ravet got sent off for the foul after the initial decision of a yellow card got revised by the VAR (Video Assistant Referee).

“Schmelle” just gave his comeback after a similar injury that shelved him for close to two months. With Raphael Guerreiro also still injured, it will be up to Dan-Axel Zagadou and newly acquired Jeremy Toljan to pick up the slack.
Furthermore the black and yellows gave an update on Marc Bartra’s situation. The Spaniard who also had to leave the Freiburg game early on because of an injury has muscular problems and will be day-to-day. It seems like Bartra will be back after just a short break but he will most likely miss the Champions League game on Wednesday against Tottenham Hotspur. Luckily Dortmund still have Ömer Toprak and Neven Subotic to step in.
