Christian Pulisic got a bit of a rest this summer when USMNT coach Bruce Arena allowed him to skip the CONCACAF Gold Cup. Instead, American Messi was able to have a full preseason with BVB.
That time off may already be paying off for Pulisic and his club.
Pulisic struck to give Dortmund an early lead in today’s DFB Supercup match with Bayern Munich.
Cool as you like! Pulisic steals the ball from Javi Martinez and puts Dortmund in the lead. #Supercup @cpulisic_10 https://t.co/L7YCxf1qS8

The 18-year-old shows his intuition once again as he pounces when Bayern get sloppy passing around their back. Then he has the composure to finish around the advancing keeper. And he made it all look so easy.
The Supercup is basically a glorified friendly, but Bayern are still a first rate side. Pulisic’s performances continue to show just how talented he is. Surely we’ll be seeing a lot more of the American Messi in this first season of Peter Bosz at Dortmund.
