As of today, Ousmane Dembélé is still MIA from training and the Dortmund facilities. He has requested a transfer, and skipped training in response to a bid from Barcelona being rejected by the club.

BVB responded to his absence from training by suspending him from training and matches. There hasn’t been a lot of news since then, but we are now hearing about how the other players at Dortmund feel about the situation.

According to RN, the other players at BVB are not supportive of what Dembélé is doing. Here’s a screenshot of the relevant parts of the article:

A rough translation of the squad member’s words are that Dembélé is “ego-centric”, “anti-social”, and evident of “a lack of character.” As always, RN are incredibly reliable for BVB information like this.

Peter Bosz has already had to deal with some unrest in his short tenure, but it’s good to see that the squad is siding with him and the club over Dembélé. Ousmane has only been at the club for a year, and all it took was one transfer bid for him to stop doing his job. That’s really not okay.

It’s likely that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is one member of the squad who doesn’t feel like RN claim the rest of the squad does. He is very close with Dembélé, and is known himself for being disruptive and distracting when he is the subject of transfer interest from elsewhere.

It’s unfortunate that there is still so much uncertainty around the club, especially with the Bundesliga season set to begin this weekend. Hopefully Bosz, Watzke, Zorc, and others can find a solution to this problem that is best for the club.
