Report: Fiorentina in advanced discussions to sign Dortmund winger Emre Mor

Dortmund’s #9 could be on his way out.

Last season, Emre Mor played sparingly for Thomas Tuchel’s Dortmund side. The Turkish teenager managed 1 goal and 2 assists in his 12 Bundesliga appearances.

He certainly wasn’t bad, but but he was clearly behind quite a few other wingers on the depth chart. His lack of a breakthrough season has led to plenty of transfer rumors this summer, but nothing concrete...until now.

According to Alfredo Pedulla, Fiorentina are actively trying to sign Mor from Dortmund.

Pedulla has his own transfer website, and does various TV work in Italy. He’s considered to be pretty reliable for information on Serie A teams. It seems like this story has some legs.

Dortmund only just bought Mor last summer for €9.75 million from FC Nordsjaelland. A fee of €20 million would see Dortmund make a nice profit on him, but he’s a young player who still managed to show his talent and potential last season. With pre-season winding down, Peter Bosz will be making some decisions about which members of the squad are expendable. Is Mor one of those players?

Fiorentina just sold Federico Bernardeschi to Juventus for €40 million, so they don’t have much leverage here. They’re certainly in a position to be able to afford the fee Dortmund are requesting.

Mor gets along quite well with the other Dortmund players, but he might be interested in a move. A move to Florence would come with a lot more playing time.

With just a month left in the window, it’s looking doubtful that Emre Mor will be anything more than a one-and-done in Dortmund.
