It seems like the transfer status of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is perpetually up in the air. He’s reportedly been close to transfers with numerous clubs, yet still he remains at Borussia Dortmund.
He’s been linked with moves to Real Madrid, Manchester City, PSG, Tianjin, and now to Italy and to AC Milan.
Di Marzio, who is usually quite reliable for transfer stories involving Italian teams, is reporting that Milan will meet with Aubameyang’s representatives this coming week.
The article is in Italian, but it seems pretty straightforward. Auba’s agent will meet with Milan, and Tianjin are reportedly still trying to sign him as well.
Aubameyang has just reported back for Dortmund’s pre-season with most of the squad. He has seemed quite happy in some of the first photos we’ve seen of training under Peter Bosz. The transfer rumors surrounding him had also subsided a little bit, and it was starting to feel like he wouldn’t be sold.
At this point in the window, Dortmund might be best off holding on to him. Patrik Schick, Alexandre Lacazette and Romelu Lukaku have all moved elsewhere, and there aren’t too many other top quality strikers still on the market.
Milan have wealthy new owners, but it’s still unclear just how much they’d be willing to spend to bring Aubameyang to Italy. They’ve already spent a lot of money this summer, including signing forwards Fabio Borini and Andre Silva.
So this transfer is still a long way off, but who knows. Maybe this will finally mark the end of Auba’s time at Dortmund.
