Pre-season has officially begun. Borussia Dortmund’s first friendly won’t be until they play 1860 Munich on July 16th, but the team is already hard at work on the practice fields.

Ruhr Nachrichten have an exclusive gallery of photos from training this morning. It was new manager Peter Bosz’s first training session with most of the players back from vacation.

Most of our main guys are back, but some players who have played in international tournaments recently are still not. From my initial searching of these photos, I don’t see new signing Mo Dahoud. Can any of our readers tell if anyone else is missing?

One notable returnee is Mario Gotze. Gotze returned to first team training yesterday after missing most of last season due to myopathy. It’s great to see him able to be running and training just as hard as all the other players again!

Another takeaway from these pictures is just how tall new signing Dan-Axel Zagadou is. He’s only 18 years old but is already 6’5! If he can continue to develop as a defender he could become quite the player.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang also features heavily in the photos. And he’s smiling a lot too! There is a particularly nice shot of him and Marc Bartra at the end of the gallery. No one really knows what’s going on with Aubameyang’s transfer status, but he’s certainly not unhappy at Dortmund. Maybe he’ll end up staying another season after all.

The season feels far away, but it’s always good to see all the boys back together in training. Onward and upward in the Peter Bosz era!
